Here’s what's going on this weekend...

25th Annual Juneteenth Festival: Empowering People, Igniting the Culture

This Saturday, we celebrate the absolute centerpiece of the valley’s holiday weekend as the 25th Annual Las Vegas Juneteenth Festival officially locks down the Downtown core. While this milestone community gathering is steeped in heritage, harmony, and local history, it’s also taking a very smart turn this year:

Given the punishing 110°F heatwave hitting the valley this weekend, the organizers made the incredible decision to move this entire massive event indoors. The festival has taken over The Expo at World Market Center (435 S. Grand Central Pkwy), meaning you can enjoy all the incredible culture, local food, and main stage performances without breaking a sweat!

Hosted by a powerful local leadership team—including Councilwoman Shondra Summers-Armstrong, Commissioner William McCurdy II, and Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown—this year’s theme is “E.P.I.C.” (Empowering People, Igniting the Culture). The curated lineup features a stunning indoor artisan vendor village, cultural exhibits, a deep lineup of live bands, local food trucks, and a massive community potluck. Best of all, admission is free for all ages.

  • 📍 Home Girl Tip: 📍 The biggest reason to plan your timeline around this event is the main stage! Make sure you arrive early at the Expo to catch R&B icon Christopher Williams headlining a special performance right on site. Shows are scheduled for 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM (and since the AC will be cranking, you’ll definitely want to stick around for both sets!). Free, accessible parking is readily available in the Expo parking structure.
    •

An illustrated indoor festival scene at The Expo at World Market Center featuring diverse crowds browsing local vendor stalls, a main stage sign for the 25th Annual Juneteenth Festival, and a 'Julia Home Girl Tip' sign highlighting the air-conditioned indoor venue.
Celebrate heritage in total comfort: The 25th Annual Juneteenth Festival brings the party completely indoors to beat the triple-digit heat!

LAS VEGAS NEWS

A vibrant 1980s summer camp themed cartoon flyer for Camp Palms No Kids Allowed at Palms Casino Resort, featuring a lake background, retro camp characters, Bigfoot, a bear with a beer cooler, and camp activity checklists.
Adults-only summer camp nostalgia: Palms Casino Resort launches 'Camp Palms' from July 1st to July 31st.

“Booze, S’mores & Bad Decisions” — Camp Palms Unveils Adults-Only Retro Pop-Up

  • The Scoop: Palms Casino Resort is officially launching “Camp Palms: No Kids Allowed,” a fully themed, 21+ nostalgia playground transforming part of the casino floor into a hilariously unhinged 1980s summer camp comedy. Running from July 1st through July 31st (Wednesday through Sunday nights starting at 5:00 PM), the experience features towering pines, campfires, boozy s’mores, and interactive walk-around characters like “Camp Director Larry” and “Nurse Candy”.
  • The Taste Test: The camp menu leans completely into guilty pleasures, including Campfire Surf & Turf (featuring Wagyu chili and smoked trout dip), “Camp Dawgs,” and childhood-inspired desserts alongside specialty retro cocktails.

    • Home Girl Tip: 📍 There is completely NO cover charge to enter the campgrounds! It’s first-come, first-served, so plan a mid-week date night when it launches in July to beat the weekend crowds.

Saving Sin City History — Las Vegas’ Last Sigma Derby Machine Moves to Golden Gate

  • The Scoop: Cult-classic gaming fans, rejoice! The absolute last remaining Sigma Derby mechanical horse racing game in the entire city officially has a brand-new home. After years of operation at The D, the beloved vintage 1980s machine was literally paraded down the middle of the Fremont Street Experience this week to its new permanent home across the street at the historic Golden Gate Hotel & Casino.
  • Why It Matters: This isn’t just an old arcade game—it’s a massive piece of Las Vegas casino heritage. Out of the thousands of mechanical horse machines that used to pack casino floors decades ago, this is literally the final one left standing in town, and it still operates strictly on real United States quarters.

    • Home Girl Tip: 📍 Because it’s the last machine in the valley, a seat at the track is highly coveted. If you want a chance to grab a plastic cup of quarters, place your bets, and cheer on your favorite plastic horse, your best bet is hitting the Golden Gate floor during weekday morning hours before the heavy Fremont tourist crowds arrive!

Revitalizing the Westside — “Share Westside” Complex Celebrates Grand Opening

  • The Scoop: A major win for local housing development just celebrated its official ribbon-cutting this week. Developer Sam Cherry joined Governor Joe Lombardo and local city leaders to inaugurate Share Westside, a brand-new five-story, 104-unit apartment complex standing at the corner of Jefferson Avenue and D Street in the Historic Westside.
  • The Big Picture: This is a massive milestone for a historic neighborhood that has been overlooked by major commercial developers for decades. The sleek new development marks the start of a multi-million dollar wave of inner-city revitalization designed to bring modern, accessible living directly to the community core.

    • Home Girl Tip: 📍 As your neighborhood real estate expert, keeping an eye on these urban revitalization pockets is key! New development like this completely reshapes local property values and attracts brand-new retail, shopping, and dining options to the immediate surrounding blocks over the next 12 to 24 months.

WHAT WE'RE LOVING THIS WEEK

🎬 Oasis Cinema Club at Fontainebleau

If you’ve been searching for the ultimate way to stay cool while still enjoying those beautiful desert summer nights, Fontainebleau Las Vegas has the absolute answer. 🔥🕶️ Their Oasis Cinema Club has been a massive hit on the 6-acre ultra-luxury Oasis Pool Deck up on Level 3 all season long.

This isn’t your average park-bench movie night; they project fan-favorite blockbusters onto a colossal, high-definition screen right by the water, paired with an elevated menu featuring high-end twists on classic concession favorites. It’s the perfect chic date night, luxury family outing, or girls’ night out. General admission is just $15 for non-guests, but if you are a hotel guest or a Fontainebleau Rewards member, entry is completely complimentary! You can even upgrade the experience by booking private daybeds or luxury cabanas if you want to lounge like true VIPs.

The series continues this Sunday, June 21st, with a screening of Disney’s Inside Out! 🍿✨ Doors open right at 7:00 PM so you can grab your snacks and catch the sunset, and the movie officially begins rolling at 8:00 PM.

📍 Home Girl Tip: 📍 Because this takes place on the stunning, elevated 3rd-floor pool deck, the ambient evening breeze is beautiful, but the desert summer air can still be warm when the sun first goes down. Arrive right at 7:00 PM when doors open to secure the best lounge chairs closest to the screen, and don’t forget to ask about their specialty themed cocktail menu designed specifically to match the movie of the night! 🍹🏊‍♂️

LAS VEGAS WEATHER UPDATE

Summer has officially cranked the dial all the way up, and the desert heat is locking in a gorgeous, clear, and blazing forecast for the upcoming holiday weekend! 🔥🕶️ We are staring down a pristine stretch of sunny skies with Friday and weekend high temperatures holding right at 103°F, making it the absolute quintessential backdrop for your pool days and backyard Father’s Day barbecues. 🏊‍♂️🍔 Overnight lows will offer a mild break in the upper 70s, dipping down to a clear 77°F to give us those beautiful desert evenings perfect for patio dinners and Fremont strolls. 🌆✨ While the UV index is a piercing 10 out of 10, you can expect a zero percent chance of rain to interrupt any outdoor festivities, though a light southern breeze of 16 mph will keep the air moving just enough. 🍃☀️

As we head into the upcoming workweek, the high-pressure ridge shows absolutely no signs of budging, keeping our daytime conditions bone-dry and consistently hot. 🥵🌵 Clear skies will dominate Monday through Thursday as the valley floor really bakes under the June sun, meaning early mornings are going to be your absolute gold-standard timeframe to walk the dogs, squeeze in an outdoor workout, or run errands before the triple digits fully take over! 🐾🏃‍♀️

  • 📍 Home Girl Tip: 📍 Do not underestimate the power of our dry mountain air when you are out celebrating this week! 🌊 Slap on the sunscreen before you leave the house, throw a cooler of water bottles in your trunk just in case, and remember that our indoor AC systems are going to be cranking full blast—so keeping a light sweater or denim jacket in the car for indoor transitions is a total veteran move! 🧥❄️

VEGAS MEANS BUSINESS (AND TRAFFIC)

Our local valley convention halls are buzzing with an incredible mix of crowds this week! We have over 55,000 visitors hitting the city—ranging from high-earning medical leaders and national safety experts to thousands of passionate pop-culture collectors and traders hunting for rare finds. If you are out running errands, hitting the mid-week lunch rush, or commuting past the resort corridors, here is exactly who is in town and where to expect the heaviest delays.

📍 Home Girl Tip: 📍 With 10,000 medical professionals at The Venetian and another 8.6K safety experts at Mandalay Bay, the mid-week Strip corridor is going to be incredibly slow-moving between 4:30 PM and 6:30 PM. If you have dinner reservations or need to commute across town after work Tuesday through Thursday, stick to I-15 or use back roads like Valley View and Paradise to bypass the resort bottlenecks entirely!

That’s a wrap for this week, 702! 🥂

At the end of the day, loving where you live is all about knowing exactly how to unlock the best parts of your own backyard. From checking out the massive new entertainment residencies to simply finding a perfect, cool escape under the stars, this city never fails to prove why it’s the most vibrant place in the world to call home. Keeping you deeply plugged into that true pulse, local energy, and changing rhythm of our community is exactly what I do as your Las Vegas Home Girl and real estate bestie—and it is easily the absolute best part of my job!

There is so much moving across the valley right now, and staying ahead of the game is key. Whether you are heading downtown this weekend to drop a few vintage quarters into Sin City’s last remaining Sigma Derby machine or skipping the crowded events entirely to focus on your next big move, I’ve got you covered. You can explore the most active local open houses directly below, and whenever you want your favorite real estate expert by your side to get you past the front doors, my line is always open. Happy Father’s Day to all the amazing dads in the valley, stay incredibly hydrated, and I will see you around town! 🔑🏘️☀️✨
