Happy Friday Vegas!
Welcome to the Explore 702 Weekly Events Guide! 🎉
If you thought the city would catch its breath after the Bruno Mars takeover, think again. This week, the energy in the valley is shifting from Pop Royalty to Global Powerhouse. Whether you’re tracking the massive tech migration hitting the North Strip for the Adobe Summit, preparing for the psychedelic arrival of Phish at the Sphere, or navigating the headlines following President Trump’s visit to discuss the No Tax on Tips initiative—this is a week where being in the know isn’t just a luxury; it’s a requirement.
In this edition, we aren’t just looking at where to be; we’re looking at how the city is evolving. We’ve got the full roadmap for the 35,000+ tech giants arriving at Mandalay Bay, the mid-week temperature spike you need to prepare for, and a very special new section requested by one of our own.
A Special Note to Our Community: Last week, one of our Neighbors reached out with a brilliant suggestion: “Julia, you should track the conventions coming into town.” Your wish is my command! Starting this week, we are officially launching the Explore702 Convention Watch. We are tracking the 50,000+ industry leaders hitting our shores this week alone. This section is for the movers, the shakers, and the Founding Members of this community who want to stay one step ahead of the gridlock.
And don’t forget to join our brand new Explore702 Facebook Group to share your own local tips, experiences, and photos.

LAS VEGAS NEWS
Bonjour, Vegas! Air France Officially Lands at Harry Reid: On Wednesday, April 15th, the very first Air France nonstop flight from Paris-Charles de Gaulle touched down at Harry Reid International. This isn’t just a one-time thing—Air France is now running direct flights three times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays) on their state-of-the-art Airbus A350. While we’ve always been a global destination, having a direct connection to the fashion capital of the world is a game-changer for locals looking for an easy European getaway and for the influx of high-end tourism. This marks a huge milestone for our city’s international growth, making it easier than ever for the fashion world to hit the Strip and for us to hit the cafes of Paris without a layover.
- Home Girl Tip:📍With nonstop service now running three times a week, keep an eye on those mid-week fare alerts. These nonstop flights are scheduled through October 24th ✈️🗼🥐
1 in 3 Nevada Young Adults Live at Home: If you’ve got a boomerang kid in their old bedroom, you aren’t alone. New data shows that roughly 35% of Nevadans aged 18 to 34 are still living with their parents. Between the skyrocketing rent in the valley and the unsteady job market, 1 in 3 young adults in Vegas are choosing to camp out in their childhood homes to save money.
“No Tax on Tips” Update: Presidential Visit to Symphony Park: The “No Tax on Tips” conversation hit the ground in Las Vegas this week. President Trump held a roundtable at the AC Hotel in Symphony Park to discuss the implementation of the new $25,000 deduction for tipped workers. While local leaders are cheering the tax relief, the visit also highlighted the growing Day Party economy in Downtown Las Vegas as the city braces for another record-breaking tourism summer.
WHAT WE'RE LOVING THIS WEEK
The Countdown to Maroon | History in the Making at Sahara: We are officially one week away from what is arguably the most important restaurant opening of the year. On Friday, April 24th, James Beard Award-winning Chef Kwame Onwuachi will debut Maroon at Sahara Las Vegas—making history as the first-ever Black chef-led restaurant on the Las Vegas Strip.
The Arrival of Maroon at Sahara: Named after the Jamaican “Maroons” (resilient communities of freed Africans), this concept is more than just a new place to eat—it is a historic milestone. This will be the first-ever restaurant on the Las Vegas Strip helmed and owned by a Black chef, and it’s taking over the legendary space formerly home to Bazaar Meat.
The Story Behind the Smoke: What we love most about this concept is the intention behind it. Named after the Maroon people—Africans who escaped slavery in the 17th century to build sovereign communities in the mountains of Jamaica—the restaurant celebrates the flavors born from a spirit of freedom. Chef Kwame is bringing those roots to life with a custom-built, live-fire jerk pit right in the center of the room.
More Than a Menu: While the menu is a sophisticated “Afro-Caribbean Steakhouse” (think rum-aged steaks and Suya beef tartare), Chef Kwame’s mission is even bigger, Chef Kwame is bridging the gap between luxury dining and soulful Afro-Caribbean flavors, using a custom-built, live-fire jerk pit to anchor the room. Whether you’re a long-time fan of his New York hotspot, Tatiana, or a local steakhouse traditionalist, this is the table everyone in the valley will be talking about next week.
- Home Girl Tip:📍 Reservations are officially live at maroonlasvegas.com. If you want to be among the first to experience this historic opening, book your table now—this will be the hardest seat to snag in the 702 all spring! 🍹🔥🥩
LAS VEGAS WEATHER UPDATE
If you’ve been waiting for the real Vegas spring to show up, this is your week! We are kicking things off with a beautiful, sunny Friday with a high of 84°F. It’s officially time to trade the light sweaters for sunglasses—today is going to be a stunner for the Bruno Mars parade.
As we head into the weekend, we’ll see a slight refreshing dip into the mid-to-high 70s for Saturday and Sunday. It’s that sweet spot where it’s warm enough for the pool but cool enough to walk the Strip without breaking a sweat.
Looking ahead to the work week, the desert is giving us a little bit of everything. We’ll see a brief cool-down on Monday with a high of 69°F—perfect for that Golden Knights energy at the Fortress—before we climb right back into the low 80s by Wednesday. It’s a dry, sunny stretch with very little wind, so keep the sunscreen handy and enjoy every second of this outdoor weather before the real triple digits find us!
- Home Girl Tip: 📍 The wind is cleaning out the valley today, so expect the humidity to drop to a bone-dry 6%. If you’re heading to the outdoor events like Chalk It Down or the Reggae Festival tomorrow, start hydrating now. That desert wind will dry you out faster than you realize! ☀️🌵🥤
VEGAS MEANS BUSINESS (AND TRAFFIC)
NAB Show 2026 | Las Vegas Convention Center | April 18 – 22
- The Scale: 65,000+ Attendees (Huge!)
- Impact: This is a massive broadcasting and media show. Expect heavy traffic around the North Strip, Winchester, and the Convention Center Monorail stop. Restaurants around Sahara and Westgate will be packed for lunch and dinner.
Adobe Summit 2026 | The Venetian Expo | April 19 – 22
- The Scale: 10,000+ Attendees
- Impact: A major influx of digital marketing pros. The Venetian and Palazzo restaurants—and the Starbucks lines—will be significantly longer than usual. If you’re planning a meeting at the Grand Canal Shoppes, add 20 minutes to your travel time.
Google Cloud Next | Mandalay Bay Convention Center | April 22 – 24
- The Scale: 35,000+ Attendees
- Impact: A total tech takeover of the South Strip. Expect a sea of “tech vests” from Mandalay Bay down to the Luxor. Traffic on Frank Sinatra Drive and Dean Martin will be sluggish during morning drop-off and evening happy hours.
Home Girl Tip: 📍 If you’re heading to the WWE RAW at T-Mobile Arena on Monday or the Golden Knights game, avoid the I-15 South exits near Tropicana and Russell. Between WrestleMania cleanup and the Google Cloud arrivals, that corridor is going to be a parking lot! 🚗🛑🏙️
