Happy Friday Vegas!

Welcome to the Explore 702 Weekly Events Guide! 🎉

At last, your ultimate Memorial Day Weekend Blueprint! 🔑🌆

We have officially arrived at the starting line of the most explosive week of the year. The desert sun is blazing, the school year is officially in our rearview mirror, and the collective energy in the 702 is completely off the charts. But before we dive headfirst into the backyard barbecues, packed pool decks, and long holiday weekend vibes, we have to pause and remember the true weight of why we are here. Memorial Day is our sacred time to honor, remember, and pay our deepest respects to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in our nation’s Armed Forces. Their courage is the exact reason we have the freedom to gather, celebrate, and enjoy the beautiful life we’ve built out here in the desert.

This week, Southern Nevada is operating as the absolute center of the global entertainment universe, and you are going to need a flawless playbook to navigate the madness like a true insider. Just look at the matrix we are playing with: we have pop royalty taking over the mid-Strip, a historic four-night global stadium blockbuster transforming Allegiant Stadium, and the massive launch of the World Series of Poker drawing the sharpest minds on earth to our poker rooms. Combine that with our Vegas Golden Knights hunting down a Stanley Cup in a fierce Western Conference Finals battle on home ice, and it is clear—if you are a local, you need a strategy to survive the gridlock.

In this jam-packed edition, we have tracked down, fact-checked, and locked down every single moving piece across the valley. We are diving into a massive, long-overdue CCSD schedule announcement that local parents need to start preparing for right now, mapping out a historic flat-top smashburger story taking over the Downtown 6th Street foodie scene, and revealing the exact early voting hubs waiting for you at your neighborhood grocery store. Grab your iced coffee, check out the surprising mid-week weather shift we are tracking, and let’s dive right into your master roadmap so you never miss a single thing in the city we call home!

Beyond the events, I am so excited about the growth of our brand-new Facebook group, The Neighborhood. We just hit over 200 Founding Members, and I am absolutely blown away by the response and now it is time to turn that group into a real Vegas Intelligence Hub! Because we are just getting started, the conversation is really just beginning—and that’s where you come in!

If you haven’t joined yet, please JOIN NOW—I’m building this to be more than just a group; I want it to be the real voice of the 702. Whether you want to share a raw review of a new residency, find or tell us about the best local mechanic, or better yet just show us how you do Vegas, we want to hear your voice! This is where the real conversation needs to happen. We are just getting started, and I would love for you to be a part of the Neighborhood as we grow toward our first 500 Neighbors and beyond.

And don’t forget to join our brand new Explore702 Facebook Group to share your own local tips, experiences, and photos.

Here’s what's going on this weekend...

We Them One’s Comedy Tour | Saturday, May 23 | 8:00 PM | Resorts World Theatre

  • The single biggest comedy production of the summer is landing on the North Strip this Saturday night. Following a massively successful run that drew over half a million fans to arenas nationwide, the official 36-city We Them Ones nationwide tour is adapting its massive stadium energy for an exclusive, premium theater experience at Resorts World. Headlined by comedy icon Mike Epps, the star-studded production features a powerhouse lineup of industry heavyweights, including DC Young Fly, Karlous Miller, Chico Bean, Mojo Brookzz, and host Tony Roberts. Known for delivering sharp, fast-paced stand-up mixed with unpredictable live moments, this all-star collective is guaranteed to provide one of the most entertaining and highly anticipated performances of the entire Memorial Day holiday weekend. If you are looking for top-tier, laugh-out-loud entertainment away from the standard concert circuit, this is exactly where you want to be.

    • Home Girl Tip:📍 Resorts World is beautiful, but navigating it on a major holiday weekend can turn into a headache real quick if you don’t have a game plan. Doors open at 7:00 PM, and you want to pull up early. Skip the main rideshare line at the front of the hotel if it’s looking crazy—use the South Registration drop-off instead for a much faster escape route. Better yet, if you’re driving, park over at the Fashion Show Mall for free and take a quick, breezy walk across the street to completely bypass the holiday garage gridlock. After the show, do not just rush out! Head over to the Famous Foods Street Eats area right outside the theater to grab some late-night duck fried rice or hit up Dawg House to keep that high-energy, post-show vibe going with the crowd. 🎤🔥🥂

LAS VEGAS NEWS

The official seal of the Clark County School District (CCSD), serving public education across Southern Nevada.

The Dawn of a New Bell Schedule: CCSD High Schools Move to 8:30 AM

Today is officially the last day of school across the Clark County School District! As we send a massive shoutout to all the local parents, teachers, and grads for surviving another academic year, it’s time to start preparing for a historic shift. Starting August 10, 2026, CCSD is completely realigning its district-wide start times. In a long-overdue move, high school start times are shifting from the brutal 7:00 AM standard to a much healthier 8:30 AM. Middle schools will move to 7:30 AM, and elementary schools will slide to 9:15 AM.

Las Vegas has long been one of the only major metropolitan cities in the country still forcing high schoolers into desks at 7:00 in the morning. While research shows the extra sleep will drastically improve student anxiety and performance, it means local families need to start adjusting their morning work routines, childcare, and carpools now. Specific bell schedules are already live on individual school websites, and bus routes will hit your ParentLink in July.

Democracy at Your Doorstep: Early Voting Starts Saturday

Primary election season has officially arrived in Southern Nevada. Beginning tomorrow, Saturday, May 23rd, early voting centers will officially open their doors valley-wide, running straight through June 5th.

Making your voice heard regarding our local neighborhood leadership, county judges, and school board trustees doesn’t mean you have to wait in massive lines in June. Clark County is making it seamless by setting up accessible early voting hubs directly inside local neighborhood spots you already visit, including select Smith’s and Albertsons grocery stores, malls, and community centers across Las Vegas, Henderson, and North Las Vegas.

Gingers Eat Free: Miami’s Famous ‘Redhead Burger’ Hits the Strip

A massive win for local foodies and late-night smashburger purists! Miami South Beach’s legendary Ocean Drive hotspot, Redhead Burger, has officially made its highly anticipated West Coast debut right inside the Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian. To celebrate their grand opening landing right on National Burger Day (Thursday, May 28th), the restaurant is hosting an epic, headline-grabbing giveaway: any customer with red hair (or anyone rocking a red wig!) gets a completely FREE burger.

Founded by two redheaded brothers and their father, this spot uses a completely proprietary beef blend designed for crispy, caramelized flat-top edges and insane juiciness. For the non-gingers looking to join the party, they are also hiding “Red Tickets” inside random orders all day long on May 28th for a chance to win free burgers for an entire year. Put this one on your calendar—it’s open daily until 2:00 AM! 🍔🍟🔴

WHAT WE'RE LOVING THIS WEEK

The Perfect Backyard Dad Burger Goes Permanent

The Backstory: What happens when a professional street skateboarder and a Michelin-starred fine-dining chef become obsessed with creating the ultimate backyard cheeseburger? You get NADC Burger—which literally stands for “Not A Damn Chance” (as in, not a damn chance you can make any substitutions or modifications to it). Born out of late-night, post-skate sessions between pro skater Neen Williams and Chef Phillip Frankland Lee, the duo spent two full years obsessively testing combinations until they engineered absolute perfection. After blowing minds with a massive resort pop-up last year, they officially dropped their anchor down in Downtown Las Vegas on May 8th with their first-ever, permanent standalone brick-and-mortar spot!

  • Home Girl Tip:📍WHERE TO FIND IT: 124 S 6th St, Las Vegas, NV 89101. They are open from lunch all the way until midnight daily, making it the absolute premier spot to celebrate National Burger Day this coming week without hitting Strip traffic!

The Food: They only serve one single burger, one way, with zero apologies. The masterpiece features two 3-ounce patties of premium, 100% full-blooded Wagyu beef sourced directly from a single family farm. The patties are smashed on the flat-top directly into fresh onions, steaming that sweet, caramelized flavor straight into the meat while keeping it dripping with juice. It’s layered with a custom “New School” American cheese that melts flawlessly, thick pickles, “slightly tamed” jalapeños, and their proprietary NADC secret sauce on a pillowy soft bun.

The Vibes: Located right in the heart of Downtown at 124 S. Sixth St. (Suite 150), the brand-new space is a complete love letter to 90s skate culture. The walls are lined with local artwork, authentic skate memorabilia, and vintage skate videos looping on the TVs, paired with a full-service bar and their legendary house-browned butter chocolate chip cookies for dessert.

LAS VEGAS WEATHER UPDATE

The heat is settling in for mid-May! We’re starting things off with a sizzling Friday reaching a high of 99°F under perfectly clear, sunny skies—setting a high-energy stage for the EDC kickoff. The weekend stays warm but brings a slight shift, with temperatures peaking at 93°F on Saturday and 90°F on Sunday. Keep in mind that Sunday will also bring a notable breeze, with gusts reaching 18 mph, which will add a bit of an edge to the afternoon.

The work week ahead promises an interesting temperature swing that keeps things comfortable for exploring the valley. We’ll see a significant, refreshing cool-down by Monday, bringing a high of 77°F, which offers a perfect break from the heat before the desert sun ramps back up. By next Thursday, the mercury is expected to climb back toward the 95°F mark, rounding out the week with that signature warm, dry desert air we all know.

  • Home Girl Tip: 📍Since we’re dealing with a range of temperatures from the 70s to the 90s—and those Sunday gusts—layering is your best friend this week! You’ll want those lighter summer clothes for the mid-afternoon heat, but definitely keep a windbreaker or a sweater nearby for the cooler mornings and that breezy Sunday. ☀️🌵🥤

VEGAS MEANS BUSINESS (AND TRAFFIC)

While the massive mid-week corporate rushes from ICSC and the Sweets & Snacks Expo are officially packing up their booths and heading to the airport today, don’t expect the roads to clear up just yet! We are trading business suits for festival gear as holiday weekend travelers and music fans completely flood the valley. Here are the major convention footprints holding down the town this week, paired with your local survival strategy:

  • VNEA World Pool Championship | May 21 – 30 | Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino
    • The Scale: 4,000+ competitive pool players, billiards enthusiasts, and global spectators.
    • The Impact: Heavy local footprint concentrated heavily around the North Strip and Paradise Road. Expect busier-than-usual wait times at the Westgate’s signature restaurants and sportsbook lounge straight through next week.
  • The 57th Annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) | Kicks Off Tuesday, May 26 – July 15 | Horseshoe Las Vegas & Paris Las Vegas
    • The Scale: Over 100,000+ card players, international tourists, and high-rolling poker professionals streaming into the city over its multi-week summer run.
    • The Impact: MASSIVE STRIP FOOTPRINT KICKOFF. Starting Tuesday, the central Strip will see an enormous influx of pedestrian traffic. Expect the parking garages, casual dining spots, and food courts inside Horseshoe, Paris, and Bally’s to be completely overwhelmed with players running on tight tournament break schedules.
  • Couture 2026 & The Las Vegas Antique Jewelry & Watch Show | May 27 – 31 & May 28 – 31 | Wynn Las Vegas
    • The Scale: 12,000+ collective luxury jewelry designers, timepiece heritage brands, antique vintage estate dealers, and ultra-high-net-worth global buyers.
    • The Impact: These two massive, ultra-exclusive jewelry events hit the Wynn concurrently starting mid-week. This creates an incredibly high-spending, luxury corporate demographic on the North Strip. Expect elite fine-dining spots and high-end lounges inside Wynn and Encore to be completely booked out by Thursday evening.
  • Gartner Application & Solutions Summit 2026 | May 27 – June 6 | Caesars Palace, Flamingo, & Harrah’s
    • The Scale: 3,380+ elite enterprise software engineers, IT directors, tech architects, and digital product executives.
    • The Impact: Landing mid-week on Wednesday, this heavy tech footprint will create heavy pedestrian and vehicle congestion right in the central heart of the Strip. Expect packed cafes, lounges, and upscale casual dining venues inside Caesars Palace, Flamingo, and Harrah’s through the end of the week.
  • Burlesque Hall of Fame (BHoF) Weekend | Thursday, May 28 – 31 | The Plaza Hotel & Casino (Downtown)
    • The Scale: Thousands of global burlesque performers, historians, fans, and retro-culture enthusiasts.
    • The Impact: DOWNTOWN ALTERNATIVE HIT. Moving to The Plaza this year for an intimate, classic Vegas vibe, this massive festival kicks off next Thursday. Expect a highly colorful, vibrant crowd filling up the Fremont Street area, packed seats inside the Plaza Showroom, and heavy local traffic on Main Street as the legendary “Tournament of Tease” weekend gets underway.

Home Girl Tip: 📍The real traffic nightmare this week isn’t the conventions—it’s the BTS stadium takeover! With tens of thousands of fans descending on Allegiant Stadium on May 23, 24, 27, and 28, the south end of the Strip and the I-15 corridor near Russell Road will be a complete parking lot from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again from 10:30 PM to midnight on all four concert nights. If you are heading anywhere near the stadium or south Strip mid-week, save yourself the stress: skip rideshare and take the Las Vegas Monorail down to the MGM Grand station and walk across the bridge, or completely bypass the south Strip by using Decatur or industrial back-roads! 🚗🛑🗺️

That’s a wrap for this week, 702! 🥂

As we head out into this spectacular long weekend, let’s make sure we hold onto the true spirit of remembrance. Take a moment this Monday to participate in the National Moment of Remembrance, or simply pause to reflect on the immense sacrifices that protect our peace. We also want to send an extra massive, heartfelt shoutout to all of our resilient local teachers, supportive parents, and the incredible, hard-working graduates of the Class of 2026—you successfully crossed the finish line of another academic year, and your neighborhood is incredibly proud of your milestone!

As you step into this action-packed holiday week, remember to carve out just ten minutes of your routine to knock out your early voting civic duty at an accessible grocery store or community center hub. Keep an extra close eye out for kids playing on our neighborhood streets now that summer break is officially in full swing, and please keep our signature traffic strategy bookmarked to completely bypass the mid-week corporate rushes hitting the Wynn, Westgate, and Caesars Palace.

Be smart on the roads, look out for one another, and let’s show the world exactly why the local community away from the neon lights makes this valley so special. Enjoy every single second of this beautiful, meaningful holiday week. I will be right back in your inbox next Friday with your next blueprint to the city. Until then, be safe and keep exploring! 🔑🌆🛡️
