Happy Friday Vegas!

Welcome to the Explore 702 Weekly Events Guide! 🎉

Happy May, Vegas! The desert heat is officially here, and so is the most packed week of the season. Between the massive crowds heading to Allegiant Stadium—officially named Stadium of the Year—and the electric energy of the Golden Knights playoffs, our city is the undisputed center of the sports and entertainment world right now! Whether you’re catching the Las Vegas Aces “Never Fold” screening, planning your Cinco de Mayo fiesta, or heading out to Shop the Lot at the Fantastic Swap Meet, we’ve put together everything you need to know to navigate the buzz.. Plus, we’re highlighting everything from First Friday to that highly anticipated grand opening of  The Hat , with their famous pastrami sandwiches, in Southwest Las Vegas. Grab your calendar—here is your roadmap to the best of the 702!

This week’s guide is a bit larger than usual because, quite frankly, Vegas just isn’t slowing down! I want to make sure you have everything you need to navigate the buzz and truly make the most of what’s coming to our city.

Beyond the events, I am so excited about the growth of our brand-new Facebook group, The Neighborhood. We just hit over 160 Founding Members in less than 24 hours, and I am absolutely blown away by the response and now it is time to turn that group into a real Vegas Intelligence Hub! Because we are just getting started, the conversation is really just beginning—and that’s where you come in! If you haven’t joined yet, please JOIN NOW—I’m building this to be more than just a group; I want it to be the real voice of the 702. Whether you want to share a raw review of a new residency, find or tell us about the best local mechanic, or better yet just show us how you do Vegas, we want to hear your voice! This is where the real conversation needs to happen. We are just getting started, and I would love for you to be a part of the Neighborhood as we grow toward our first 500 Neighbors and beyond.

And don’t forget to join our brand new Explore702 Facebook Group to share your own local tips, experiences, and photos.

Here’s what's going on this weekend...

Country music’s biggest star is officially taking over our “Stadium of the Year” for two powerhouse nights. With heavy hitters like Brooks & Dunn opening on Friday and Thomas Rhett on Saturday, expect a massive crowd, high-energy anthems, and an electric atmosphere that’s going to shake the dome all weekend long.

Home Girl Tip:📍Allegiant Stadium is huge, and it will be packed. If you aren’t planning to pay for premium parking, hop on the Deuce or a rideshare early—traffic around the stadium on concert nights is no joke! Also, skip the main gate lines by trying the North or South entrance if you arrive right when doors open.

LAS VEGAS NEWS

Vibrant graphic announcing the Taste of North Las Vegas event at Liberty Park, featuring 80th-anniversary branding, food trucks, and live entertainment icons.
NLV is turning 80! Join the community for the "Taste of NLV Sat. May 2nd, from 1PM – 9PM at Liberty Park..

Happy 80th Birthday, North Las Vegas!: North Las Vegas was incorporated on May 1, 1946, and has become the fastest-growing city in Nevada and the largest minority-majority community in the state, according to the City of North Las Vegas. To mark this incredible milestone, the city is hosting the “Taste of North Las Vegas” this Saturday, May 2nd, from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM at City Hall’s Liberty Park complete with food, live music, and a classic car show and plenty of birthday cake. Plus, the commemorative festivities continue on Wednesday, May 6th, at 10:00 AM, where city officials will gather at Liberty Park to bury a time capsule filled with community history to be opened on the city’s 100th birthday in 2046! It’s a great reminder of how much this part of our valley has grown and transformed over the last eight decades. If you want to celebrate local heritage, this is the place to be on Saturday! 🎂🎈🎉

The Summer of Live is Here ($30 Concert Tickets!): If your concert budget was looking a little tight, Live Nation just saved your summer! They’ve officially launched their “Summer of Live” promotion, offering $30 “all-in” tickets to thousands of shows across North America. This deal runs through May 5th, but tickets are first-come, first-served. Whether you’re looking to catch a legendary rock show or a new indie artist, now is the time to check the list at LiveNation.com/SummerofLive. Set your alarms, because these go fast! 🎟️🎸✨

LVMPD Takes Action Against Street Takeovers: The city is cracking down. This week, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department announced they made over 77 arrests over a three-day operation targeting illegal street racing and coordinated “street takeovers.” This is a major win for local residents who have been vocal about road safety. The message from the police is clear: if you’re planning to block intersections or engage in dangerous “rolling races,” you’re going to be held accountable. Keep those eyes on the road and stay safe out there! 👮‍♂️🚗💨

WHAT WE'RE LOVING THIS WEEK

THE HAT IS FINALLY HERE!:  If you grew up in Southern California or have ever taken a road trip to the coast, you know the legend: The Hat. For 75 years, this family-owned icon has been the gold standard for thinly shaved, piled-high pastrami sandwiches. And after years of anticipation, they are officially planting their flag in Las Vegas!

Starting Wednesday, May 6th, you can get your fix right here in the valley. Located at 6215 S. Rainbow Blvd in the Southwest Valley, this is their very first location outside of California, and the energy around the grand opening is already electric.

Why we’re obsessed:

Beyond the cult-following pastrami dip (which comes on a gravy-soaked French roll that you have to try), The Hat is known for its legendary chili cheese fries and old-school, no-frills charm. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or a pastrami rookie, this spot is guaranteed to become a local staple. Grab a seat on the patio, bring a big appetite, and get ready to see what the hype is all about—we’ll definitely be there!

LAS VEGAS WEATHER UPDATE

We’re kicking off the first week of May with a beautiful, sunny Friday reaching a high of 86°F, setting the stage for a classic desert spring. The weekend brings a shift toward cloudier skies, with temperatures peaking at 90°F on Sunday. Keep in mind that Sunday will also bring a notable breeze, with gusts reaching 17 mph, which will definitely add a crisp, cooling edge to the afternoon—perfect for those outdoor festival plans if you have a light layer handy!

The work week ahead promises an interesting temperature swing that keeps things comfortable for exploring the valley. We’ll see a significant, refreshing cool-down by Tuesday, bringing a high of 72°F, which offers a perfect break from the heat before the desert sun ramps back up. By next Thursday, the mercury is expected to climb back toward the 90°F mark, rounding out the week with that signature warm, dry desert air we all know.

  • Home Girl Tip: 📍Since we’re dealing with a range of temperatures from the 70s to the 90s—and that Sunday wind—the best approach this week is layering. You’ll want those lighter summer clothes for the mid-afternoon heat, but definitely keep a windbreaker or a sweater nearby for the cooler mornings and that breezy Sunday! ☀️🌵🍹
