From Park Ave to Mars: Why Vegas is Renaming the Strip Tomorrow
Hey 702 Neighbors! Remember last week when we gave you an inside look at the sophisticated, grown and sexy vibe of Bruno Mars’ Pinky Ring lounge at the Bellagio—and specifically that smooth 24K Magic Martini? Well, the timing of that feature couldn’t have been more perfect. Tomorrow, Friday, April 10th, our city is bringing that 24K magic directly to the asphalt by officially turning Park Avenue into Bruno Mars Drive.
As your Las Vegas Home Girl who loves nothing more than seeing our local legends get their well-deserved flowers, I couldn’t be more excited to share the details of this historic moment with you. Interestingly, this whole plan was actually set in motion back in October as a massive birthday surprise for Bruno. Tomorrow, that vision becomes reality, and the entire city is invited to the party.
The Event Details
Here is everything you need to know to catch the parade, navigate the crowds, and witness Las Vegas history:
- Who: Bruno Mars himself, alongside MGM Resorts CEO Bill Hornbuckle, Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo (presenting a ceremonial state flag), and Clark County Commissioner Jim Gibson. Expect a true Vegas spectacle with double-decker buses, vintage cars, live music, and marching bands.
- 11:00 AM – Toshiba Plaza Opens: The plaza in front of T-Mobile Arena opens to the public. Admission is free, but space is limited and will close off once it reaches capacity, so arrive early.
- 1:00 PM – The Parade Kicks Off: The procession starts on the north side of the Bellagio and travels south down Las Vegas Boulevard, passing the Fountains of Bellagio, The Cosmopolitan, ARIA, and Park MGM. Fans are encouraged to line the sidewalks along the route to catch the action.
- 1:30 PM – The Ceremony: The parade wraps up at Toshiba Plaza, where the official street-renaming ceremony and on-stage celebration will take place.
- Know Before You Go: Expect road closures on southbound Las Vegas Blvd between Flamingo Road and Park Avenue starting around 12:15 PM. Leave the coolers, backpacks, strollers, chairs, and glass containers at home, as they are strictly prohibited along the parade route and at the plaza.
The "Romantic" Night Ahead
The street naming is just the opening act for a massive Friday. Tomorrow night, Bruno officially kicks off the highly anticipated launch of his global stadium run The Romantic Tour at Allegiant Stadium.
This isn’t just any concert—it’s a massive milestone and Vegas was specially chosen as the launchpad for this massive, 71-show tour that will take him across the world through October. From the intimate vibes of Dolby Live to the massive energy of the stadium, Bruno has officially become part of the Vegas DNA. The parade is truly the ultimate hometown send-off for a performer who has given so much to our city!
Why This Matters for the 702
Earning a street name in Las Vegas is an ultra-exclusive honor. By claiming his own drive, Bruno Mars is joining the storied ranks of ultimate Vegas icons like Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr.
If you heard rumors that he was approaching his 100th show here, he’s actually already beaten that milestone! Since his residency began on New Year’s weekend in 2016, Bruno has performed more than 100 solo shows at Dolby Live (plus another 34 as part of Silk Sonic). Over the course of his legendary nine-year residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM, Bruno and his band, The Hooligans, have drawn an incredible 800,000 fans to the 702. His impact on our city’s modern entertainment and nightlife scene is undeniable, cementing a golden legacy that stretches from the triple-platinum success of his 2016 album 24K Magic to his cocktail lounge inside the Bellagio.
