Happy Friday Vegas!
Welcome to the Explore 702 Weekly Events Guide! 🎉
Happy Friday Vegas! If you’re like me, you’ve been keeping a close eye on those temperatures. This week’s little cool-down was a total surprise, but honestly? It’s the perfect excuse to get out and explore before the real summer heat finds us. With over 160 new neighbors now part of this weekly ‘insider circle,’ I felt the pressure to make this guide our best one yet—and Vegas did not disappoint.
We’re leaning into the Spring Awakening vibes this week. Whether you’re headed to the Arts District for First Friday tonight, catching a Broadway classic at the Smith Center, or seeing a West Coast legend at AREA15 mid-week, the 702 is officially showing off. I’ve scoured the city for the best of Las Vegas so you don’t have to.
And don’t forget to join our brand new Explore702 Facebook Group to share your own local tips, experiences, and photos.
Bonus: the first 10 people to join the group get ‘Founding Member’ bragging rights!

LAS VEGAS NEWS
The South Strip Power Play: If you’ve noticed the heavy machinery moving near Las Vegas Blvd and Blue Diamond, you’re looking at the future of the 702. Brightline West has officially moved into the physical construction phase of the high-speed rail to L.A., aiming for that 2028 Olympic debut. But the real “water cooler” talk? The Oak View Group is right next door, moving forward with plans for a massive $10 billion sports and entertainment district.
NBA Expansion Update: The buzz about a Las Vegas NBA team is reaching a fever pitch this week. While LeBron James recently made headlines saying he isn’t pursuing ownership right now, the league is officially greenlighting the exploration of expansion cities. Whether they land at the brand-new OVG arena or start off at T-Mobile, it’s looking less like “if” and more like “when.”
Hard Rock’s New Look: Keep an eye out for the newest landmark on the Strip—the Hard Rock Cafe just installed a massive, brand-new LED guitar-shaped display on its façade. It’s a bright reminder that even with all the new “South Strip” growth, the heart of the Boulevard is still constantly evolving!
WHAT WE'RE LOVING THIS WEEK
The Pinky Ring Lounge at Bellagio: 🍸 If you haven’t been to Bruno Mars’ new lounge yet, what are you waiting for? It feels like vintage Vegas glamour met a modern soul club. The live band is incredible, and the cocktails are named after his hits. It’s the ultimate spot for a sophisticated Saturday night.
- The Pinky Ring by Bruno Mars (Bellagio): 🍸 If you haven’t stepped inside Bruno Mars’ cocktail lounge yet, you are missing out on the smoothest vibe on the Strip. It’s like stepping back into a more glamorous era of Vegas—think plush velvet, gold accents, and a “no phones allowed” policy that actually lets people enjoy the moment.
- The “24K Magic” Martini: The cocktail menu is a tribute to Bruno’s hits, but this one is the standout. It’s sophisticated, strong, and perfectly balanced—just like the room itself.
- The Hooligans Vibe: Even when Bruno isn’t on the stage, his hand-picked house band and DJs keep the energy high with live soul, funk, and R&B sets. It’s the ultimate spot for a “grown and sexy” night out where you can actually hear the music and feel the soul.
LAS VEGAS WEATHER UPDATE
If you were caught off guard by that little spring chill earlier this week, you aren’t alone! But don’t put those light jackets away just yet—we’re looking at a beautifully crisp Friday with a high of 72°F and some breezy northeast winds. It’s exactly the kind of sweater weather that makes First Friday in the Arts District feel just right tonight. As we head into the weekend, things start to warm back up into the high 70s, hitting that sweet spot where it’s warm enough for a patio lunch but you won’t be melting in the sun.
Looking ahead to the work week, the desert is definitely starting to remind us that summer is around the corner. We’ll see temperatures climb steadily into the mid-to-high 80s by Monday and Tuesday, reaching a peak of 88°F by Wednesday. It’s going to be a dry, sunny stretch, so definitely keep the sunscreen and ChapStick handy if you’re out and about. By next Thursday, expect a bit of a breezy cooldown back into the high 70s, giving us one more taste of that perfect April air before the real triple digits eventually move in.
